Serenity is infested with quirky and awkward humor, but manages to pick itself up as the film progresses. The film carries an interesting plot that keeps the viewer watching, as well as standard special effects, but some of the acting of the members of the crew is less than credible. I think to actually be able to appreciate this sci-fi adventure, one needs to be familiar with the cancelled series Firefly. But who knows, maybe thats why the series was cancelled… Rated PG-13 for sequences of intense violence and action, and some sexual references. Running time 119 minutes.
