Corpse Bride

Commentary by Max Einhorn

Tim Burton’s gloomy animated flick brings the dead party  animals and the dead-at-heart living together into a fun musical. Johnny Depp voices as the shy and fearful protagonist who has a run in with the dead and ends up marrying a corpse. The film has a lot of color and music, but lacks a lot of real character development and leaves the end really open and a very big problem doesn’t seem solved. It is strong throughout, but the ending is oddly weak.

Rated PG for some scary images and action, and brief mild language. Running time 76 minutes.

MAXimum Rating 7/10
