A Very New Direction

Commentary by Max Einhorn

After writing reviews for the past few years, I think it’s about time that I head in a new direction. I am going to make this very clear. This site will no longer host new film reviews, but instead will serve as a blog where I will share my experiences as an independent filmmaker and also address many of the problems we all face in our often zero-budget productions. I encourage all my readers to come and share their experiences and solutions in each new posting.

The reason I have decided to take on this new direction is because filmmaking has also been truly what I have wanted to do. I did enjoy reviewing films, but I’m sure any person could probably tell you- it’s a hell of a lot more fun to go off and make your own movies. I have already completed about ten short films and I am involved in three to four other projects at this very moment whether it is directing, being a director of photography, just writing the script, or sometimes even all three!

Yesterday, I began a new blog on blogspot called Adventures in Independent Filmmaking (http://indiefilmadventures.blogspot.com)
I decided today that I did not want this website to just and rot until I eventually decided to take it down, so this site and the blogspot site will host the same blogs (and to tell you the truth this site is a lot nicer looking).

Just so you’re not missing anything, here is the introductory post I put on blogspot:

Hey Readers,

My name is Max Einhorn and I’m an independent filmmaker. I began making short films back in 2002… very silly little projects but suspended making shorts when I became employed as a film critic at my town’s newspaper from 2005-2008. I got back into making short films very heavily when I attended the Capital Area School for the Arts from 2007-2008, which offered a film program. This fall I will be attending Temple University where I have already been accepted a s a Film and Media Arts major.

Currently, I have over ten short films under my belt (whether they are good or not is up to you) and I, like many other filmmakers, have had my share of satisfaction as well as…experience hitting speed bumps. The purpose of this blog is for you, my readers, and myself to share our speed bumps and solutions. As someone who is directing, I believe it is very important for a filmmaker that when they encounter a problem they must be on their feet with a possible solution on hand! This blog will not always just have my problems and my solutions… because sometimes I may not have a solution and that’s where we can collaborate!

I can’t tell you how often I will be posting, but I hope to post at least once a week regarding a topic that relates to something I’m doing now, an example would be doing A.D.R. for a 13 minute short I’m polishing up. Every once in a while I would also like to post a review of a book about film or relates to film in some way.

Thanks for reading and I hope you tune in regularly,

Max Einhorn
